The team
The Radiation Oncology Center at Providence Park is staffed by two Radiation Oncologist: Dr. Robert Gilbert and Dr. Frank Pitruzzello. These two physicians work closely with a highly experienced staff of nurses, radiation therapists, medical physicists and dosimetrists. In addition support staff members are always available to answer patient questions.

The Radiation Oncology Center carefully customizes treatment plans for each patient to optimize benefit, while minimizing radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissue.

External Beam radiation therapy- The radiation oncology team uses one of the most versatile cancer treatment devices in the field of radiation therapy called the

Trilogy linear accelerator. The Trilogy linear accelerator is a powerful new image-guided radiation therapy system that delivers high dose radiation to even the smallest tumors.

Trilogy can deliver forms of external beam radiation therapy, from conventional radiation treatment and IMRT {link} to the newest and most advanced techniques, such as image-guided radiotherapy and respiratory gated treatments. Trilogy's built-in imaging system can pinpoint the size and location of a patients tumor moments before each treatment.

In addition to external beam therapy, other radiation oncology services are available:

• Intracavitary and Interstitial brachytherapy
• High-dose remote afterloading brachytherapy
• Stereotactic Radiosurgery
• CT-based three-dimensional treatment planning for conformal radiation therapy
• Image Guided Radiation Therapy {IGRT} Four-dimensional radiation therapy{4DRT}

The Radiation Oncology Center houses a state of the art PET/CT for diagnosis, staging, treatment response and treatment planning.
